What makes an outstanding Non-Executive Director?
8th December 2009 – New Head of Corporate Broking
Andrew Chapman, appointed Head of Corporate Broking and Equity Capital Markets, KBC Peel Hunt
KBC Peel Hunt (Peel Hunt), the specialist UK mid and small cap corporate broking and advisory firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Chapman as Managing Director, Head of Corporate Broking and Equity Capital Markets (ECM). Andrew will take up his appointment from 4 January, 2010.
He will focus on developing Peel Hunt’s client relationships, building its UK corporate client list and developing its ECM business.
One of the City’s leading corporate brokers, Andrew was at ABN Hoare Govett from 1992 to 2005 where he was Managing Director in the UK Corporate Broking business and was a member of the firm’s management committee. He was responsible for key client coverage in several sectors and advised on equity fund raisings and M&A transactions, spanning the public and private equity sectors.
He was one of the five Managing Directors to leave ABN Hoare Govett in 2005 to join Citi with the objective of building its Corporate Broking client list in the mid and small cap sectors. Between 2005 and 2008, the Citi Corporate Broking franchise became the fastest growing franchise in the City with the retained broking client list increasing from 35 to 79 corporate clients, many of which were secured under Andrew’s leadership.
Prior to Hoare Govett, Andrew was at Lehman Brothers where he was responsible for its UK Corporate Broking business. He was the youngest serving member of the London Stock Exchange’s Senior Advisory Committee and was a member of the FSA’s External Consultative Committee for the Listing Regime and Listing Rules and its Disciplinary Committee. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
Simon Hayes, Chief Executive of Peel Hunt, commented: “We are delighted to have recruited a leading corporate broker of Andrew’s calibre. His depth of experience and relationships throughout the UK market will certainly help us drive the business forward. Andrew’s decision to join Peel Hunt shows his confidence in our business model, distribution platform and the opportunities to grow the business.”
Andrew Chapman commented: “Returning to a specialist UK corporate broking and advisory house which has the ambition, management and commitment to service the needs of its corporate clients in a focused multi-disciplined way, without conflicts, and a with a “can-do” attitude greatly appeals.
“Peel Hunt’s recent hires of Alex Carter as head of sales and Charles Hall as head of research highlight its commitment to continue building Peel Hunt as a small/ mid cap broking franchise for corporate clients wanting to work with valued partners. I am very enthused about the future for Peel Hunt and the opportunities that lie ahead for the firm and for all of its stakeholders.”
