1st June 2007 – John Cahill voted top ‘City Young Gun’ analyst
John Cahill, a real estate equity analyst at KBC Peel Hunt, has been voted the top City sell-side analyst, for the 2007 Cantos Young Gun Awards.
The Young Gun Awards profiles the finest of the UK’s City talent from a thriving pool of under-35s. Voting for the Awards is from throughout the City, including investors, advisers and heads of business. A panel of experts advised on the interview questions including Numis, BNP Paribas and Seymour Pierce.
John received the majority vote over nine other analysts from around the City, including Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse and ABN Amro.
Commenting on the win, John says: "I’m delighted to have taken part in the Young Guns poll. The interest generated has demonstrated the continued high demand for the work of the sell-side analyst, not just for new issues but also for secondary market coverage. The markets are certainly keeping us busy."
John has worked at KBC Peel Hunt since August 2006, where he joined from F&C Asset Management. Before that, he worked at the Bank of England as a corporate finance analyst specialising in smaller quoted companies and later as a sterling bond dealer/analyst, managing the Bank of England’s £3bn sterling bond portfolio.
He has a BA in Business Economics from Durham University and an MSc in Economics for Development from Oxford University.
