15th May 2007 – City Great & Good take part in raising £60,000 for Motor Neurone Disease
The 2nd Paget Masters took place this weekend with a selection of the City ’Great and Good’ tee-ing off at the Woburn Golf Club.
Sponsored by investment bank KBC Peel Hunt, and joint-chaired by financer Rupert Hambro and entrepreneur Joel Cadbury, over £60,000 was raised with all proceeds to Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). The funds raised will be used by Dr Kevin Talbot, one of the UK’s premier experts in the field of Motor Neurone treatment, to fund research projects.
Over 25 teams competed and players this year included Mark Price, new CEO of Waitrose and Peter Hambro. Every hole is sponsored separately for bottles of Laurent Perrier, a Jeroboam of Laurent Perrier & a giant bottle of Famous Grouse whisky & a giant bottle of Vodka on various challenges. The competitors round was eased by champagne, chilled Chablis, oysters, smoked salmon & other delicacies for the on course refreshment.
‘We are pleased to be involved with one of the happiest and most enjoyable charity and corporate golf days, together with raising a significant amount for MNDA,’ says Stephen Fine, managing director of KBC Peel Hunt.
David Carlton Paget died is September last year from Motor Neurone disease after less than four years of diagnosis. He worked at KBC Peel Hunt on the Sales desk and was a well-known and colourful character in the City.
