6th December 2007 – KBC London Announces £100k Fund Raising for Starlight Charity for Inaugural Charity Day

KBC Bank, KBC Peel Hunt, KBC Financial Products (KBCFP) and KBC Asset Management are delighted to announce that they have together raised over £102,800 during their first Charity Day in London.

Colleagues throughout 111 Old Broad Street gathered together with a range of fund raising ideas, celebrity appearances and competitions on 29 November to support the charity Starlight, which brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment to help take their minds off the pain, fear and isolation of their illness.

“We collectively will have granted a staggering 40 wishes and raised an impressive £102,805.98, with foreign currency still to be counted. This event has exceeded all of our expectations, and it is amazing what we can achieve with all KBC areas working together. The charity is absolutely thrilled and has asked me to send a huge thank you to everyone at KBC in London,” comments Steven Fine, managing director at KBC Peel Hunt.

Starlight will now be able to guarantee the funds to send children to Lapland in time for Christmas, and grant many other urgent wishes.

Celebrities including actors Dougray Scott and Emma Samms, and model Abi Titmuss joined KBC to encourage the fund raising, which included top prize winning auction, with KBC clients and staff joining in the fun.

KBC trader Chris Ellis-Keeler fought off stiff competition from rivals and celebrities to win a timed ‘Belgian Bun’ eating contest. He ate against KBCPH head of corporate finance David Davies, KBCPH marketmaker Duncan Manning, ex-England cricketer Chris Cowdery, and filmstar Emma Samms.
